During the following day, Jeremiah, Richie and Maya ride into The Emperor's Valley. They find a tortoise there, and Jeremiah puts it into a sack. However, a band of goons kidnapp Richie and Maya. As Jeremiah climbs onto his horse's back, Richie cries for help from him. Jeremiah, with a little bit of guilt and remorse inside of him, reveals that he only came to keep his promise, and that he is selling them out so they won't disturb him from going home. Richie angrily called him a sloppy dog-man and reminded him that they had a deal and that after helping him find the tortoise he only wanted help with going home. Jeremiah said he's sorry for everything and he rode his horse back towards the town. The goons took Richie and Maya to Bob's farm, where the goons are revealed to be The Reaper's henchmen and one of the goons reveals that Bob was killed by The Grim Reaper himself. On his way back, Jeremiah finds The Reaper and points at the mad criminal a gun. Gizelle unmasks herself. Jeremiah recognizes her and starts crying out loud, before asking his mother why she did all this. Gizelle walks to her son with open arms and says that none of that matters, and that they must reunite. Gizelle gives Jeremiah a hug, and Jeremiah stabs her in the heart once. She steps back and her chest bleeds, so she quickly draws her gun out of her pocket and points it at Jeremiah, asking if he really wants to waste his whole life on people who made his mother suffer. Maria then comes from behind with Joseph and she jumps off the horse and as Gizelle turns around, Maria stabs Gizelle once more, causing her to fall down and die.

Jeremiah gives Joseph the tortoise and the two of them hug, but Jeremiah replies that he has one more promise to keep before they go back to town. They eventually enter the farm land and see the goons from afar, as one of them points a gun at Maya and Richie. Jeremiah appears to the thugs on his horse as Maria and Joseph sit behind him. He shoots two of the goons, and the rest run for their lives. Richie thanks him for that and invites Jeremiah, Maria and young Joseph to his marriage with Maya. Therefore, everyone is now happy.
