Richie asks Jeremiah to help him find his father since he lost his direction and couldn't find the farm which he lived in. 

Jeremiah agrees but asks him for one single tortoise in return so he could give his son a present.

Richie tells him that he knows a place where tortoises are commonly found and the trio then go towards The Emperor's Valley.

Evening comes, and Jeremiah sits with Richie and Maya on the riverside, deep inside the forest. Maya out of interest asks Jeremiah if he has any lover in his life. Jeremiah replies to her and says that his wife Maria is the woman he loves more than anyone. He throws a stone into the river, and tells them that if he ran out of the house to find their son a present for his birthday and that his son and wife are so important for him that he just walked out of his house to keep his promise to them even if he has to die for it.

He added that if his beloved ones leave the house before he comes, he shall shoot himself.

Maya says out of empathy that she knows how it feels like because her brother was also killed by the agents.

During the night, the three of them sleep on the grass. However, before they fall asleep, Richie proposes to Maya that she marries him after their journey is over. Maya happily agrees, and falls asleep a few seconds later.

Meanwhile, the agency come to Maria's house early, and the investigation begins during the late night hours. Byron enters the house with a big gun and two dogs follow him. He asks if there is any good reason why Jeremiah is not available for such a long time inside the town. Maria out of protective feelings replies that he's dead now, but one of the dogs sniff and find a letter which Jeremiah wrote to her and Joseph, as he writes that he shall travel to the forests and find a tortoise to keep his promise.

Maxwell Byron giggles and reveals to the mom and the child that he made a pact with The Grim Reaper while he doesn't know who he or she is behind the masks. He asked The Grim Reaper to kill Jeremiah so he could exact his revenge on her husband as his previous father was the one who killed his own father, Jeff Byron.

Maria called him a monster, and out of rage, Maxwell orders his men to arrest both the mom and the child, promising Maria personally that the investigation won't be easy this time, and nether will the electric chair.

However, before they can do anything,, The Reaper appears smashing the door and entering the house. The Reaper comes towards Agent Byron, as the other agents run out of the house from fear. Maxwell promises to pay The Reaper a double amount of what he's promised. The Reaper uses his scythe and cuts off Byron's head.

The Reaper then found the letter on the floor, and started crying.

Suddenly, his deep male voice becomes a soft voice of an elderly woman.

Maria asks The Reaper what is wrong out of sympathy towards the criminal. The Grim Reaper unmasks herself, and the old woman appears to be recognized by Maria, who is shocked and she asks the old woman if it's her. The old woman reveals that she is no other than Jeremiah's mother Gizelle, and that she's looking for her son.
